What is AILET
AILET is a national-level law entrance exam conducted by NLU, Delhi. AILET exam is conducted for admission to 5-year integrated BA LLB, LLM and PhD programmes to NLU, Delhi Only.
Candidates may note here that NLU Delhi is the only national law university that does not accept the CLAT scores for admission to its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. All remaining 22 NLUs accepts CLAT 2024 scores

Exam Details
- NLU Delhi has released an Admission announcement. The official announcement of AILET exam 2024 mentions important dates, eligibility, seats, and exam centres.
- The university has opened the AILET application form on August 7, 2023, and the last date for submission of applications is 13 November,2023
- The application form for AILET 2024 is available online at nationallawuniversitydelhi.in.
- NLU Delhi will issue AILET 2024 admit card to all candidates who have registered and submitted their application fee on November 20, 2023. The admit card of AILET 2024 will be issued through the candidate portal.
- The AILET 2024 exam will take place on 10 December 2023. The exam will held across the country, in offline mode.
- The answer key is generally released a few hours after the AILET exam. The AILET answer key helps the candidates calculate their approximate marks.
- The result of AILET 2024 will be announced by the last week of December. It mentions marks obtained by the candidate, rank, and roll number.
Syllabus
NLU Delhi has changed the test pattern and syllabus for AILET UG and AILET PG in 2023.
As per the new test pattern, AILET BA LLB 2023 now has three sections – English, current affairs and general knowledge, and logical reasoning.

AILET LLM has only two sections – English and Legal reasoning.
Registration process
- 1: Online registration – Candidates need to visit the official website of NLU Delhi – nludelhi.ac.in. Then, click on ‘Register to Apply Now’ where they need to create a signup or login account by providing details such as name, email id, create password, date of birth, mobile number, and contact address.
- 2: Select the law course – As the AILET 2024 exam is conducted for undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in law, candidates should first select the course in the application form – BA LLB, LLM or PhD After the selection of the course candidates should click on ‘Apply Now” to move in the next step.
- 3: Fill out the application form – Candidates after successfully creating the AILET 2024 login account should fill the particulars given below:

– Parent’s or guardian’s details - 4: Upload the documents – Candidates need to upload their photograph and signature.
- 5: Pay the application fee – Candidates can pay the application fee using Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking option through an online payment gateway. Or, if the candidate wants to pay the application fee in offline mode, then they have to select ‘Cash Deposit at post office’ as the mode of payment.
- 6: Application form submission – After successful submission of the application fee, candidates should cross-check the details entered on the application form of AILET 2024 and submit it online only.
Documents required for Registration
- Photograph
– File size should be less than 150 KB.
– The file should be in a JPG, GIF or BMP format.
– The file should be a scanned copy of their recent photograph, colour photo, with a light background and the candidates’ face should cover at least 75% of the photo. - Signature

Experience based on AILET 2023

- Conduct of All India Law Entrance Test – 2024
- All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) for admission to the B.A.LL.B. (Hons)/LL.M. and Ph.D. Programmes at the National Law University, Delhi will be conducted on the Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 11.00 AM to 1:00 PM.
- The modified syllabus of AILET 2024 for B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) Programme is as follows:
- The AILET 2024 for B.A.LL. B (Hons.) programme will have three (3) sections of 150 multiple choice questions for 150 marks in total. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes.
- The three sections will be:
- Section A: English Language (50 questions; 50 marks).
- Section B: Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions; 30 marks).
- Section C: Logical Reasoning (70 questions; 70 marks).
- Legal principles may be used in the logical reasoning section to test logical aptitude, but the examination will not require any kind of legal knowledge or technical understanding.
- Negative marking: There will be Negative Marking in AILET 2024. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark.
- If two or more candidates get the same marks at the All-India Law Entrance Test (AILET), their merit will be determined on the basis of higher marks in the section on LOGICAL REASONING in the AILET 2024.
- If the merit is still the same, then the candidate senior in age shall get preference. If still there is no change in merit, then computerized drawing of lots shall be taken into consideration.
- Guidelines for submission of online application form
The following guidelines may be read by all applicants before filling the application form for Admission to AILET 2024:
- The candidates are advised to go through the admission notification carefully and acquaint themselves with all requirements in respect to filling up of the Online Application Form.
- It will be the sole responsibility of the candidate to make sure that he/she is eligible and fulfils all the conditions prescribed for admission to a particular programme. The fee paid for application for admission shall not be refundable.
- The incomplete application form will be summarily rejected, and no request will be entertained in this regard.
- Name of the Candidate: Candidates should type his / her Name as given in Class X or equivalent certificate. If your name has several initials, leave one blank after each of them.
- Email address/Mobile Number: Candidates should type his/her correct mobile number and email address only, which will be used for sending various communications related to AILET 2024.
- Name of Father / Mother: Type the name of your Father or Mother exactly as in your Class X or equivalent certificate.
- Date of Birth: Enter the date, month, and year of your birth as per English calendar and as recorded in your School / Board (Class – X) / Pre-University examination certificate.
- Gender: Select the correct option.
- Category: Select the appropriate option for your categories – SC, ST, OBC, General, EWS, Kashmiri Migrant, J & K Residents, Persons with disabilities and Foreign Nationals. Category certificate to be verified during admission/Counselling process.
- Centre Choice Details: Select any of the three centres of your choice in order of preference.
- Nationality: If your nationality is Indian, chose nationality as INDIAN from the drop down. If your nationality is not Indian, choose FOREIGN from the drop down.
- Contact and Family Details: Please provide your proper contact and family details in the fields provided.
- Contact details – Address: Type your complete address including the STATE, DISTRICT, CITY AND PIN CODE. Candidates are required to enter the correct Mobile Numbers of parents and email address at which the SMS/communication will be sent.
- Academic Qualification: Enter your qualifying examinations and fill in the requested information. Percentage (%)/ CGPA should be entered manually where appropriate.
- Photograph & signature of the Candidate:
- The candidate should upload his/her passport size photograph and coloured with white background. The size of the image should not be more than 1 MB.
- Passport size photograph should not have cap, goggles etc. (Spectacles are allowed). The face of the candidate should cover about 75% of the photograph. The photograph must clearly show the face of the candidate in the preview box/page.
- Image should be .jpg/jpeg/png format.
- The candidate should also upload his/ her scanned signature. The signature should be clear and without overwriting on white paper sheet within a box 6×3 cms (width*height). The size of the image should not be more than 1MB.
- Candidate signature should be clear and without overwriting on a white paper with Black/Blue pen within a box of 6x3cms (width*height) and clearly visible in the preview box/ page
- The scanned signature should be in .jpg/jpeg/png format only.
- The candidate should keep two identical photographs of him/ her, in reserve, which may be used for pasting on the Admit Card at the time of Entrance Test/ Counselling/ Admission if required.
- The candidate will be solely responsible for all the consequences arising out of any error or omission in the Application Form.
- Before submission of online application, candidates are requested to check their details entered in the form. Once you have submitted the online application, you will be able to check the details by clicking VIEW SUBMITTED APPLICATION form option.
- If you have submitted the incorrect details in the form, you can delete the application form and fill it once again and submit the form.
- Please note, in case you have selected option YES to BPL category under the category SC/ST, you will not be able to delete the application form once submitted.
- Candidates will pay requisite application fee through any DEBIT/ CREDIT CARDs, /UPI and Net Banking etc. After successful payment of the application fee, an acknowledgement receipt will be generated in the login.
- Application Number: Once the application form is saved as draft/submitted successfully, an application number is generated.
- Candidate will be required to produce the following documents/certificate in original at the time of admission/counseling process:
- In the case of B.A.LL.B.(Hons): Marks Statement of Class XII and X.
- Latest Character Certificate
- Transfer Certificate
- Valid SC/ST/OBC/EWS/ Persons with Disability / Kashmiri Migrant/ Resident of J&K Certificate (wherever applicable).
